Connect to ChatGPT

Use Unmarkdown with ChatGPT to create, style, and publish documents.

Unmarkdown has been submitted to the OpenAI integrations directory and is pending review. Once approved, you will be able to connect Unmarkdown directly from ChatGPT's interface.

The integration is fully built and functional. It uses the same MCP server and OAuth flow that powers the Claude integration. Approval timing depends on OpenAI's review process.

What to expect after approval

Once Unmarkdown is approved in the OpenAI directory:

  1. Open ChatGPT
  2. Start a new conversation
  3. Click the integrations/tools menu
  4. Search for "Unmarkdown" and enable it
  5. Authorize the connection (OAuth, no API key needed)
  6. Ask ChatGPT to create, style, publish, or convert documents

ChatGPT will have access to the same 7 tools available in the Claude integration: convert_markdown, create_document, list_documents, get_document, update_document, publish_document, and get_usage. Documents can be created directly into folders and moved between folders by name.

Use Unmarkdown with ChatGPT today

While the directory listing is pending, you can still use Unmarkdown with ChatGPT output in two ways:

Chrome Extension

The Unmarkdown Chrome Extension works on chat.openai.com. It detects markdown in ChatGPT responses and lets you:

  • Copy formatted output for Google Docs, Word, Slack, OneNote, Email, or Plain Text
  • Apply any of 62 templates with one click
  • No API key or account required for basic conversion

Web App

Copy ChatGPT's markdown output and paste it into the Unmarkdown web app. From there you can:

  • Style with 62 templates and a full visual editor
  • Publish to a shareable URL
  • Export to any of 6 destinations
  • Use 12 AI editing actions to polish the content
