Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Unmarkdown™ ("Service"), operated by Unmarkdown ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Unmarkdown™ is a markdown publishing platform that allows you to write, style, and publish markdown content. The Service includes a web application, REST API, and related features.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide accurate, complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials (including API keys).
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • One person or legal entity may maintain no more than one free account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Use the API to circumvent rate limits or usage quotas
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Scrape, crawl, or spider the Service without written permission

5. Content

  • You retain ownership of all content you create or upload to the Service.
  • You grant us a limited license to store, display, and distribute your content as necessary to provide the Service (including publishing to your chosen URL).
  • We do not claim ownership of your content.
  • You are solely responsible for the content you publish.

6. Pro Subscription

  • Pro features are available for a monthly or annual subscription fee.
  • Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with 30 days notice.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled before the renewal date.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis within 7 days of purchase.

7. API Usage

  • API access is included in both Free and Pro tiers with different rate limits and quotas.
  • Free tier: 1,000 API calls per month, 10 requests per second.
  • Pro tier: 10,000 API calls per month, 30 requests per second.
  • Exceeding limits may result in temporary throttling or suspension of API access.
  • API keys should be kept confidential. You are responsible for all usage under your API keys.

8. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms.
  • Account deletion includes a 30-day grace period during which your data can be recovered.
  • After the grace period, your data is permanently deleted.

9. Intellectual Property

  • The Service, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Unmarkdown and protected by intellectual property laws.
  • "Unmarkdown" and the Unmarkdown logo are trademarks of Unmarkdown.
  • Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to use our trademarks without prior written consent.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unmarkdown shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page with an updated effective date.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
