Billing

Unmarkdown™ offers two plans: Free and Pro. The Free plan gives you access to the core editor, publishing, clipboard copy to all 6 destinations, and a limited set of templates. Pro unlocks unlimited documents, all 62 templates, unlimited AI actions, higher API quotas, document downloads, full analytics, and more.

Pro is available at two price points:

• $8 per month when billed annually ($96/year)
• $10 per month when billed monthly

You can upgrade from three places: the "Upgrade to Pro" button in the sidebar, the Billing tab in Settings, or any upgrade prompt that appears when you hit a Free plan limit (such as the 5-document limit). The checkout is powered by Stripe and supports credit and debit cards. Your Pro features activate immediately after payment.

Your subscription can be in one of five states, visible in the Billing tab:

Active

Your Pro subscription is current and all Pro features are available.

Canceling

You have cancelled, but your current billing period has not ended yet. All Pro features remain active until the period ends. You can resubscribe during this time to keep your Pro access uninterrupted.

Canceled

Your billing period has ended after cancellation. Your account has reverted to the Free plan.

Past Due

A payment failed. Stripe will retry the charge automatically using Smart Retries. Your Pro features remain active during the retry period. If all retries fail, the subscription is cancelled.

Free

No active subscription. All Free plan limits apply.

You can switch between monthly and annual billing from the Billing tab. When switching from monthly to annual, Stripe applies a prorated credit for the unused portion of your current monthly period, then charges the annual rate. When switching from annual to monthly, the change takes effect at the end of your annual period.

You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from the Billing tab in Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full Pro access until that date and are not charged again.

When your Pro subscription ends and your account reverts to Free:

• All your existing documents are preserved (nothing is deleted)
• You cannot create new documents beyond the 5-document limit
• Your 5 most recently edited documents remain fully editable
• All other documents become read-only, shown with a lock icon in the sidebar
• To edit a locked document, delete another document or upgrade again
• Pro-only templates revert to the default Swiss template on published pages
• Download buttons are disabled
• API quota drops to 1,000 calls per month

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Unmarkdown™ accepts major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Unmarkdown™ does not store your card details directly. You can update your payment method through the Stripe billing portal, accessible from the Billing tab.

Your billing cycle starts on the day you subscribe. For annual plans, you are billed once per year on your subscription anniversary. For monthly plans, you are billed on the same date each month. If that date does not exist in a given month (for example, the 31st), you are billed on the last day of that month.

You can view your current billing period, next payment date, and subscription status in the Billing tab.

Invoices are generated automatically by Stripe for every payment. You can access your full invoice history from the Billing tab. Each invoice includes the amount charged, billing period, and payment method used. Invoices can be downloaded as PDFs for your records.
